The 49-19 beat down the New York Jets suffered last night at the hands of the New England Patriots was the second home game this season they lost by 30 or more points. The Jets lost 34-0 at home to the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 30.

This was the second time since 1966 (start of the Super Bowl era) that the Jets have lost two games at home in a season by 30-plus points. The Jets also lost two games by 30-plus points at home in 1975; 43-0 to Miami and 37-6 to St. Louis.

It was also the ninth home game since ’66 that they lost by 30-plus points.

Following are the number of home games each of the NFL teams have lost by 30 or more points since 1966.

There have been six games this season where the home team has lost by 30-plus points. As mentioned above, the Jets have done it twice. The other teams were Jacksonville, Miami, St. Louis and Tennessee. You noticed above that the Baltimore Ravens have not lost a home game by 30 or more points in their franchise history. Their biggest defeat at home was a 27-point loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 21, 1999.

The Indianapolis Colts have the second longest timeframe since a 30-point loss at home; the last time it happened was on December 1, 1991.

Twelve teams have not lost a home game by 30-plus points since 2007. They are (with the last time they lost a home game by 30-plus points):

Note: The Jets became the fourth team since 1966 that lost two home games by 30-plus points (in a season) in two different seasons. The other teams are Atlanta (they lost three home games by 30-plus points in 1966 and two in 1967); Cleveland (two such games in 1975 and 1999) and Philadelphia (1975 and 1998).

Following is a look at this week’s NFL schedule and some historical stats on the head-to-head matchups.

Minnesota vs. Chicago: The Vikings lead the series 52-48-1. Chicago has won 10 of the last 11 played in Chicago. The Bears have won five straight in the series. The Bears have averaged 31.8 points in the last five games against Minnesota.

Oakland vs. Cincinnati: Oakland has won 20 of the 28 games played against the Bengals. Cincinnati has won three of the last four games played at home. Oakland has won four of the last five. Four of the last seven games have been decided by a field goal.

Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland: This is the 121st meeting of the two franchises. Pittsburgh has won the last four games and 16 of the last 17 games played against Cleveland. The Steelers have won 10 of the last 11 played in Cleveland. The Browns have scored only 31 points in the last four games played against Pittsburgh.

Buffalo vs. Indianapolis: Buffalo has a 35-30-1 advantage against the Colts. Buffalo won the last meeting between the two teams, 30-7 on Jan. 3, 2010 in Buffalo. Indy has won seven of the last nine in the series. The Colts have won the last four games played at home.

Tennessee vs. Jacksonville: The Titans hold a 20-15 lead in the series. Jacksonville has won two of the last three games. The two teams have split their annual two-game series in each of the last three seasons and the two teams have split the last six games played in Jacksonville.

Denver vs. Kansas City: The Chiefs lead the series 56-48. The last three games have been low scoring contests; the Chiefs have scored only 27 points, the Broncos have scored only 26. The two teams have split the last eight games in the series and they have split the last six games played in Kansas City.

Seattle vs. Miami: Miami has won nine of the 13 games played between the two teams. The Dolphins have won four of the last five. Miami is 6-2 in games against the Seahawks at home. The last three games have all been decided by five points or less.

Atlanta vs. Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay holds a one-game advantage in the series, winning 19 and losing 18. Atlanta has won six of the last seven. The teams have split the last six games played in Tampa Bay. The Bucs won the last game played in Tampa Bay, 16-13, on Sept. 25, 2011.

Baltimore vs. San Diego: The two teams have played eight times; they have each won four games. The Chargers are 4-2 in games played in San Diego. San Diego has scored 92 points in the last three games against the Ravens.

St. Louis vs. Miami: The Rams are 35-33-2 against the Cardinals. The Cardinals have won 10 of the last 12 games in the series. The two teams have split the last four games. The Cards have won four of the last five in Arizona. The Rams have scored under 21 points in each of the last 10 games played in the series.

San Francisco vs. New Orleans: The 49ers have a big advantage in the series, winning 46, losing 24 (there have been two ties). The Saints have won six of the last seven and the last four games played in New Orleans. The Saints have averaged 31.1 points per game in the last seven games versus the 49ers.

Green Bay vs. New York Giants: Green Bay is 31-24-2 against the Giants in the all-time series. The two teams have split the last six contests, and they have split the last 14 games, dating back to 1983. The Packers have won the last four games played on the Giants home field.

Carolina vs. Philadelphia (Monday): The Eagles hold a 5-2 advantage over the Panthers. Philly has won the last three games. The two teams faced off on Monday Night Football on Dec. 4, 2006 with the eagles winning 27-24. The Eagles have scored 95 points in the last three games against the Panthers.
