Sports Stats ‘on Tapp’ is a sports statistics blog published with a focus on stats that go beyond the numbers.
Through games of June 12, the Milwaukee Brewers have four players who are hitting .300 or better: Jean Segura (.339), Carlos Gomez (.326), Ryan Braun (.304) and Nori Aoki (.303).
If these four (or if any combination of four Brewers) finish the season at .300 or better and have the number of plate appearances required to qualify for the batting title, it would represent the fourth time in team history that they had four hitters end the season at .300 or above.
Here’s a look at the other three seasons:
1978:Paul Molitor (.322), Sixto Lezcano (.321), Cecil Cooper (.308) and Charlie Moore (.300)
1996: Dave Nilsson (.331), Jeff Cirillo (.325), Kevin Seitzer (.316) and John Jaha (.300)
1999: Jeff Cirillo (.326), Geoff Jenkins (.313), Dave Nilsson (.309) and Alex Ochoa (.300)
So what’s your thought? Will the Brewers end the season with four (or more) .300 hitters in 2013.
