Inside the Numbers: Week 2 of the NFL playoffs

Four more games will highlight Week #2 of the NFL playoffs. Here’s a snapshot of the four games and some numbers from the previous head-to-head matchup of the teams.

SATURDAY
New Orleans @ Seattle
All-time series: Seattle leads the series 7-6.
Last meeting: The Seahawks defeated the Saints 34-7 on December 2, 2013.
All-time playoff series: Seattle won the only playoff game played between the two teams.
Last playoff meeting: The Seahawks defeated the Saints 41-36 in a 2010 first round game on January 18, 2011.
Noteworthy: Seattle has won the last two games in the series… The Seahawks have won four of the last five in Seattle… Seattle scored 75 points in the last two contests.

Indianapolis @ New England
All-time series: New England leads the series 47-29.
Last meeting: The Patriots defeated the Colts 59-24 on November 18, 2012.
All-time playoff series: New England has beaten Indianapolis in two of three playoff games.
Last playoff meeting: The Colts defeated the Pats 38-34 on January 21, 2007 in the AFC Championship Game.
Noteworthy: New England has beat the Colts in three straight… The Patriots have scored 30 or more points in five of their last seven games against Indianapolis… The two teams have split the last 10 games they played in this series… Seven of the last eight games in the series were decided by seven points or less.

SUNDAY
San Francisco @ Carolina
All-time series: Carolina leads the series 11-7.
Last meeting: The Panthers defeated the 49ers 10-9 on November 10, 2013.
All-time playoff series: This is the first post-season meeting between the two teams.
Last playoff meeting: (See above)
Noteworthy: Carolina has won four straight in this series… The Panthers have won four of the last five at home against the 49ers… Carolina has won eight of the last 10 games versus San Francisco… Three of the last five games in the series were decided by three points or less.

San Diego @ Denver
All-time series: Denver leads the series 58-49-1.
Last meeting: The two teams split their two games this season; Denver won 28-20 on November 10, San Diego won 27-20 on December 12.
All-time playoff series: This is the first post-season meeting between the two teams.
Last playoff meeting: (See above)
Noteworthy: Denver has won four of the last five games against the Chargers… The Chargers have won four of the last five games played in Denver… Six of the last seven games in the series were decided by eight points or less.
