With nine strikeouts versus the Angels last night, Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale became the 37th pitcher in MLB history to collect 200 or more strikeouts in five or more seasons.
Nolan Ryan leads this category with 15 seasons with 200+ K’s… Randy Johnson (13), Roger Clemens (12) and Tom Seaver (10) are the only pitchers to amass 200 or more strikeouts in 10 or more seasons.
Of the 37 pitchers with five or more seasons with 200+ K’s, 20 are in the Hall of Fame.
Sale, who is 28, also became the 16th pitcher in league history to collect 200+ strikeouts in five or more seasons while in his 20’s. Clemens, Seaver and Walter Johnson hold the MLB mark with seven seasons with 200+ K’s while in their 20’s.
