Today’s Sports Stat-August 11, 2017

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman had a single in four at-bats last night in the team’s loss to the White Sox.

The reason that is noteworthy is that Bregman had gone into last night’s game with a streak of 10 consecutive games with an extra base hit.

Bregman became the 22nd player in MLB history to have a streak of 10 or more games with an extra base hit.

The MLB record for most consecutive games with an extra base hit is 14, held by two players, Chipper Jones and Paul Waner. Jones had an extra base hit in 14 straight games in the 2006 season while Waner had a streak of 14 consecutive games with an extra base hit in 1927.
