Today’s Sports Stat: October 14, 2017

Houston Astros’ second baseman Jose Altuve continues to be the driving force in the team’s push for a World Series championship. He went three-for-four in last night’s Game One, 2-1 win over the Yankees in the ALCS.

It was Altuve’s third three-hit game of this post-season and the fourth three-hit post-season game of his career. He became the 67th player in MLB history to have four or more post-season games with three or more hits in a contest.

Bernie Williams and Derek Jeter hold the MLB record for most three-hit post-season games with 12 each. Reggie Jackson and Roberto Alomar are tied for third with nine games each.

Since the 2015 playoffs, Altuve’s four three-hit games top the list. He is followed by Ben Zobrist, Daniel Murphy and Jason Kipnis with three games each.
