Packerstats 2017: Game 6, 23-10 loss to Minnesota

Here are some of the numbers that helped define the Packers 23-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on October 15.

  • The Packers are now 10-8 versus the Vikings since 2000 when they are the away team. The teams have now split the last 10 games played in Minnesota.
  • Early Sunday (noon start) games have been a good thing for the Packers. They are now 33-15-1 (.684) since 2010 in games that have an early Sunday start.
  • Yesterday’s game was scoreless after the first quarter. Since 2000, Green Bay is 25-15 in games where neither team scored in the first quarter. They are, however, 11-13 since 2000 in away games where both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter.
  • Clay Matthews got his first fumble recovery since 2015 in the game. He now has five career fumble recoveries (he had three in his rookie season of 2009).
  • The Packers “D” had a pair of takeaways, usually a good sign. Since 2010, the team is 44-10 (.815) in games where the defense gets two or more takeaways.
  • The Pack was behind by four points at halftime. They are now 7-14 (.333) in away games when they trail by four points or more at halftime.
  • Through the first three quarters, the Packers had only 10 points. Since 2011, Green Bay is 2-19-1 (.114) in games where they have 10 or fewer points going into the fourth quarter.
  • Brett Hundley became the 17th Green Bay QB to throw three or more interceptions in a game in the Super Bowl era (since 1966). He is the first Packers QB with three interceptions in a game since Scott Tolzien on November 17, 2013 when he had three picks in a game versus the Giants.
  • Green Bay did not score in the second half. It was the first scoreless second half in a game since November 26, 2015 when they were held scoreless in the second half in a 17-13 loss to the Bears. The Pack has been scoreless in the second half in 17 games since 2000… they are 2-15 in those games.
  • The Packers had only 227 total yards of offense in the game. It was the fifth game since 2013 where they had fewer than 250 yards of offense in a game; they lost each of those games. Since 2000, Green Bay is now 9-14 in games where they have fewer than 250 yards of total offense in a contest.
  • With only 10 points, the Packers are now 5-21 (.192) since 2000 in games where they are held to 10 points or less in a game. They have lost six straight.
  • Since the start of the 2015 season, there have been eight opposing receivers who have caught nine or more passes in a game versus the Packers. Only one player has done it twice… Minnesota’s Adam Thielen. He had nine receptions in yesterday’s game; he had 12 in a game versus the Pack last year on Christmas Eve.
