There seems to be an interesting trend developing with three of the last four World Series. Last night the home team Los Angeles Dodgers lost in Game 7 to the Houston Astros. It was the third time in the last four years that the World Series went to a seventh game and the home team lost that seventh game!

It also happened last season when the Cubs won Game 7 against the Indians in Cleveland; and it happened in 2014 when the Giants won a Game 7 over the Royals in Kansas City to win the World Series.

Since 1969, there has been 17 Game 7’s in the World Series. In 10 of those, the home team has won Game 7. Here are the seven times since 1969 where a home team has lost in Game 7 of the World Series:
