Donovan Mitchell, the 13th selection in the 2017 NBA Draft, currently tops the list for most points scored by a rookie this season in the NBA. Mitchell has tallied 548 points for the Utah Jazz, averaging 17.7 points per game.
Mitchell is followed by rookie Ben Simmons, the #1 selection in the 2016 NBA Draft who did not play last season, with 500 points. The Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma (486 points) and Jayson Tatum of the Celtics (468 points) are the other rookies who have scored 400 or more points thus far in the 2017-18 campaign.
There are 29 rookies who have scored 100 or more points through games of December 20. Eight teams have two or more first-year players on this list; the Sacramento Kings have four rookies that have scored 100 points or more so far this season.
