Here are some of the numbers that helped define the Packers 29-27 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on October 28.
- The Packers have now lost five of their last seven contests on the road versus the NFC West. They have also lost four of their last six games played in Pacific Standard Time stadiums.
- The temperature at game time was 82 degrees. Since 2000, Green Bay is 7-7-1 in games played in 80 degrees or warmer.
- Davante Adams had a pair of 40-yard plays in the game (one for 48 yards, another for 41). Adams tops the team with three 40-yard plays this season. Since 1994, Adams has 12 40-yard plays to his credit. That ranks him fifth on the Packers team. Donald Driver tops the list with 36, followed by Greg Jennings (33), Jordy Nelson (29) and James Jones with 19.
- The Pack scored first in the contest and is now 46-21 (.687 winning percentage) in away games when they score first.
- Green Bay held the Rams scoreless in the first quarter with a 7-0 lead. Although the Packers are 45-14 (.763) since 2010 in games where they hold their opponents scoreless in the first quarter, the Pack has lost four of their last five games when their opponents do not score a point in the first quarter.
- Green Bay’s defense had five sacks in the game. They are now 33-9-1 (.779) in games since 2000 when they sack the opposition QB five or more times.
- The Rams scored their first points on a safety. It was the first safety given up by the Packers since 11/1/2015 against the Denver Broncos. Green Bay is 9-5 (.643) since 2000 when they allow a safety.
- The Packers had a 10-8 lead at halftime. In the Mike McCarthy era (since 2006), the team is now 37-13 (.740) in road games where they have a lead at halftime.
- Davante Adams had five receptions for 133 yards. It was his third straight game with 130 or more receiving yards. He became only the second player in Green Bay history to have three straight games with 130 or more receiving yards. The other was James Lofton who did it in three consecutive games in 1984. Adams became only the 28th player in NFL history to have three straight games with 130 receiving yards. There are seven players who top the list with four consecutive games with 130 receiving yards; the last was the Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. in 2015.
- Green Bay allowed the Rams’ offense to compile 416 total yards. Since 2006, the Pack is 28-23-2 (.547) when the opponents tally 400 or more total yards in a game.
- The Packers were only two-for-nine in third down attempts in the game, a paltry 22.2%. Green Bay is 7-15-1 (.326) in games in the McCarthy era when they convert on less than 25% of their third down attempts.
- Green Bay had only 25:50 minutes time of possession in the game. They are now 9-16 (.360) since 2006 when they have less than 26 minutes time of possession in a game.
- Aaron Rodgers had a 102.9 Passer Rating in the contest, the third straight game where his Passer Rating was above 100. His career-high is 12 consecutive games with a Passer Rating above 100; he did that in the first 12 games of the 2011 season.
- Aaron Jones had another good game with 12 carries for 86 yards, a 7.2 per attempt average. Jones has had five games this season with a 5.0 yards per attempt (minimum of five attempts). His five games with a 5.0 yards per carry is tied for the most in the NFL this season with Kerryon Johnson (Detroit) and Phillip Lindsay (Denver).
- The Packers defense had three players each with seven solo tackles: Jaire Alexander, Clay Matthews and Blake Martinez. That was the most players with seven or more solo tackles since October 18, 2015 against San Diego when Ha-Ha Clinton Dix, Micah Hyde, Nate Palmer and Damarious Randall each had seven or more solo tackles. For Matthews, it was the most solo tackles in a game since November 9, 2014 when he had a career-high nine solo tackles. Alexander became the first Packers rookie with seven or more solo tackles in a game since Josh Jones did it last season.
- The Packers held the Rams to five punts in the first five drives of the game. In their remaining seven drives of the game, the Rams offense had three TDs, two field goals and two punts.
- The Packers are now 85-18-1 (.822) when they score 27 or more points in a game.

This year’s World Series features a pair of teams, the L.A. Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, who are making their second Fall Classic appearances in the last 10 years. The Dodgers lost to the Houston Astros in last year’s World Series; the Red Sox won the championship in 2013.
With that being said, would you say that baseball has been a model of parity in the World Series over the past 10 years? How about the parity of the other professional sports… the NBA, NHL and NFL?
Let’s take a look at how many different teams have played for their sport’s championship in the last 10 seasons.
In the past 10 seasons, the professional league with the “best” parity in their title game/series is a tie between the NFL and NHL. Both of those leagues have seen 14 different teams play for the title in the last 10 seasons. Major League Baseball follows with 13 different teams playing in the World Series in the last 10 years. Not surprisingly, the league with the “least” parity is the NBA; in the last 10 seasons, only nine teams have played for the title in the NBA.
Only four franchises have played in four or more title games/series in the past 10 years: New England Patriots (NFL), Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA), Golden State Warriors (NBA) and the Miami Heat (NBA). All played in four title series games/series in the last 10 years.
If we look at how many teams have played in more than one championship title game/series in the last 10 years in the NBA, NHL, NFL or MLB, baseball has the most teams with six. They are followed by the NBA with five and both the NFL and NHL with four.
The teams that have played in two or more championship series/games in the last 10 seasons:
MLB (6): Boston, Kansas City, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco, St. Louis, Texas
NBA (5): Cleveland, Golden State, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami, San Antonio
NFL (4): Denver, New England, Pittsburgh, Seattle
NHL (4): Boston, Chicago, L.A. Kings, Pittsburgh
One final question: Which pro league has gone the longest without back-to-back title winners? If you answered baseball, you win the prize. The last back-to-back World Series champs are the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000. The last back-to-back Super Bowl champs are the New England Patriots from 2004 and 2005. The NHL had back-to-back Stanley Cup winners in 2016 and 2017 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the NBA had back-to-back champions with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.

Ten Stats You May Not Know About MLB Game Sevens

The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers will face off in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) tonight with the Brewers playing at home. This will be the 59th game 7 in MLB history. Forty-two of those game 7’s were in the World Series; seven were in the American League Championship Series (ALCS); and this will be the 10 Game 7 in the history of the NLCS.
Here’s 10 stats you may not know about the history of Game 7’s in baseball’s history.
- The most runs scored in a Game Seven were 15 by the Atlanta Braves in a 15-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1996 NLCS.
- There have been 16 shutouts in a Game Seven.
- There have been 16 one-run games in Game Sevens.
- The most frequent score in a Game Seven is 3-2. That has happened six times.
- There have been 15 times where the winning team won Game Seven by a margin of five runs or more.
- The Dodgers have lost five Game Sevens in their history, four as the Brooklyn Dodgers (1920, 1947, 1952 and 1956). They also lost a Game Seven last year in the World Series to the Houston Astros. The Brewers have lost one Game Seven in their history… a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1982 World Series.
- Home teams are a very average 31-27 (.534 winning percentage) in Game Sevens.
- There have been five Game sevens that went into extra innings. The home team is 4-1 in those games. The only road team to win a Game Seven in extra innings were the Chicago Cubs in the 2016 World Series over the Indians in Cleveland.
- Of the 16 teams that have won an LCS (A.L. or N.L.) eight went on to win the World Series that year. The last team to do so were the Astros last year who beat the Yankees in seven games in the ALCS and then won the World Series last year.
- The Game Seven loser in the previous 16 LCS contests has scored less than three runs in 13 of those 16 games.
- Bonus Stat: How many runs will it take to win Game Seven? Of the previous 16 LCS that went to a Game Seven, teams that scored three or more runs were 16-3 (.842 winning percentage); teams that scored four or more runs in that Game Seven were 13-2 (.867 winning percentage); and those teams that scored seven or more runs in Game seven were a perfect 6-0.

Here are some of the numbers that helped define the Packers 33-30 win over the San Francisco 49ers on October 15.
- The Packers have now won six straight against the NFC West at home and are 16-3 since 2000 versus the NFC West at Lambeau Field.
- Green Bay is now 8-9 on Monday Night games in the Mike McCarthy era (since 2006).
- The Pack has a bye next week; the win versus the 49ers gives the team an 8-5 record in games prior to the bye week during McCarthy’s tenure as head coach.
- Aaron Rodgers Passer Rating in the game was 100.4. He has a career Passer Rating of 107.9 in October games, the highest of any month in his career.
- With the win, Rodgers is now .500 in games on Monday night (8-8).
- Rodgers is now 16-5 in games against the NFC West in his career, a .762 winning percentage.
- The 49ers scored first in the game. The Packers are 5-6 in games at Lambeau when their opponents score first in the contest.
- Green Bay scored on their first possession for the first time this season.
- The Packers tallied 17 points in the first quarter. They are 10-1 in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) in games at Lambeau when they score 17 or more points in the first quarter.
- San Francisco scored 14 points in the first quarter. Green Bay is now 5-5 in the Super Bowl era in games at Lambeau when the opposition scores 14 or more points in the first quarter.
- The Green Bay defense had three takeaways in the game. The team has now won 21 games straight when they have three or more takeaways. They are 43-2 since 2000 in games where they have three or more takeaways.
- The Packers were behind 24-20 at halftime. They are now 11-20-1 in games at Lambeau Field since 2006 when they are behind at halftime.
- With four field goals and three extra points, Mason Crosby had 15 points in the game. Green Bay is 18-0-1 in games when Crosby has 13 or more points in the contest. The team is now 12-0-1 in games when Crosby makes four or more field goals in a game.
- The Pack was behind 27-23 going into the fourth quarter. With the win, the Packers are now 20-19-1 at home since 2006 when they enter the fourth quarter behind in the game.
- Rodgers had 425 yards passing for the second game in a row (he had 442 yards passing on Octo. 7 versus the Lions). It was the first time in his career that he had 400 or more yards passing in two consecutive games.
- Green Bay had three receivers with 100 or more yards receiving: Devante Adams (132), Jimmy Graham (104) and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (103). It was the first game since 1980 that three Packers had three receivers with 100 or more yards receiving. That happened on October 12, 1980 when Eddie Lee Ivery (128), Paul Coffman (109) and Aundra Thompson (102) reached the milestone.
- This was only the ninth win since 2010 for the Packers in a game where they gave up 30 or more points. They are 9-25 since 2010 in games when they allow the opponents to score 30 or more points.
- Green Bay had 521 total yards for the second consecutive game. It was only the second time in team history that they had 500 or more total yards in consecutive games. It last happened in 1983.

This is the fifth year in the Milwaukee Brewers 50-year franchise history (one year in Seattle as the Pilots, 49 seasons in Milwaukee) that they have made the playoffs. The National League Championship Series (NLCS) versus the Los Angeles Dodgers is the eighth different playoff series the team has played in those 50 seasons: they played in one post-season series in 1981, two in 1982, one in 2008, two in 2011, and face the Dodgers in their second playoff series of 2018.
Here are several stats about the past history of the Brewers in the playoffs and some stats about Brewers players in the post-season.
- The Brewers have never won a Game 6 or a Game 7 in the playoffs in their history. They are 4-3 in Game Ones; 2-5 in Game Twos; 4-3 in Game Threes; 4-2 in Game Fours; 3-2 in Game Fives; 0-2 in Game Sixes; and 0-1 in Game Sevens.
- The team has a playoff record of 17-18 (through the 2018 Colorado series). They are 12-6 (.667 winning percentage) at home and 5-12 (.294) in road playoff contests.
- The Brewers are 6-8 after a loss in the playoffs… 7-7 after a win.
- If the Brewers have lost two straight games in a playoff series, they are 6-0 in the next game after a two-game playoff losing streak. If they have won two straight in a playoff series, the Brew Crew is 2-3 in the next game.
- Milwaukee is 5-2 in their first home game of a playoff series.
- The Brewers have won three playoff series in their history (1982, 2011 and 2018) and have lost four series (1981, 1982, 2008 and 2011).
- Ryan Braun holds the Brewers team record for most career post-season hits with 27. He is followed by Robin Yount (22), Paul Molitor (22), Charlie Moore (17), Cecil Cooper (15) and Jerry Hairston (15). How many of you had Hairston on this list?
- Prince Fielder has the most career HRs in the post-season for Milwaukee with four. Molitor and Ted Simmons follow with three each, and Braun, Corey Hart, Ben Oglivie, Gorman Thomas and Rickie Weeks (two each) are the only other Brewers players to have two or more career post-season home runs for the club.
- Cooper tops the list with 13 career post-season RBI for the Brewers. The only other Brewer with 10 or more is Braun with 12.
- Mike Caldwell is the only Brew Crew pitcher to win more than one post-season game for the Brewers.
- Shaun Marcum is the only Brewers pitcher to lose three or more post-season games for the Brew Crew. He was 0-3.
- John Axford (3), Bob McClure (2) and Pete Ladd (2) are the only relief pitchers to have more than one save for the Brewers in the post season.
- Yovani Galardo leads the Brewers pitching staff with the most career post season strikeouts with 20. He is followed by Pete Vukovich (16), Don Sutton (140, Zack Greinke (13) and Chris Narveson (13).
