Today’s Sports Stat: September 29, 2017
It wasn’t surprising that Aaron Rodgers had four TD passes in Green Bay’s 35-14 win over Chicago. What was surprising, however, was that Rodgers only had 179 yards passing in the game.
In the previous 20 games when Rodgers threw four or more TD passes, he had never had less than 200 yards passing in that game. The lowest passing yards in a 4-TD game for Rodgers was 205 in a September 25, 2016 contest versus the Lions.
This was only the fourth time in Rodgers’ career that he had less than 200 yards passing in the same game where he had three or more TD passes.
Rodgers became the 37th QB in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) to have four or more TD passes with less than 200 yards passing in the same game. That stat has been “accomplished” 44 times since 1966. Jim Kelly did it three times in his career; Bubby Brister, Bob Griese, Carson Palmer, Brian Sipe and Steve Young each did it twice in their careers.
