PACKERSTATS-Game #16-2019 season

Here are some of the numbers that helped define the Packers 23-20 road win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, December 29.

  • The Packers defeated the Lions twice in 2019 (23-22 on October 14 in Green Bay and Sunday’s game), both games ending with a Mason Crosby field goal as time expired. Both were come-from-behind victories, meaning the Packers did not lead at any point in the game except for the final play. That’s 120 minutes played against the Lions in 2019 without ever leading in the game… but two victories!
  • Green Bay went 5-0 in December. It was only the second time in team history that they won five games in one month. They also did it in October of 1961.
  • The Pack went 6-0 against NFC North opponents this season, the first time since they went 6-0 against the NFC North in 2011.
  • Green Bay went 6-2 in road games this season, the best road record since they went 7-1 in 2011.
  • Green Bay during the 2019 regular season was…
    • … 12-1 when they scored 20 or more points in a game
    • … 4-0 when they scored 28 or more points in a game
    • … 13-0 when they allowed 24 points or less in a game
    • … 0-3 when they allowed 25 or more points in a game
    • … 10-2 in Sunday games
    • … 1-1 in Thursday games
    • … 2-0 in Monday games
    • … 4-2 in night games (started after 6pm)
    • … 2-1 in mid-afternoon games (started at 3:25pm)
    • … 7-0 in noon games
    • … 8-1 in one-score games (games decided by eight points or less)
  • The Packers went 12-8 against the Lions in games this decade. They were 7-3 in games at home, 5-5 in games in Detroit.
  • The Packers were 13-9 (.591) in December road games this decade.
  • Since 2000, the Packers are 15-5 (.750) in the last game of the season (Game #16). That is tied for the second-best record in the NFL; the Pittsburgh Steelers were 17-3 in the 16th game of the year since 2000. Green Bay was tied with Indianapolis for the second spot.
  • Aaron Jones ended the year with 1,084 yards rushing, the first 1,000-yard rusher for the Pack since Eddie Lacy in 2014. He became the 10th player in Packers history to have a 1,000-yard rushing season.
  • Jones also ended the year with 1,558 total yards from scrimmage (he had 474 yards receiving on the season). He became the eighth Packer to reach 1,500 yards from scrimmage in a single season. Ahman Green holds the Packers record for most yards from scrimmage with 2,250 in 2003.
  • The Pack was held scoreless in the first quarter with the Lions taking a 7-0 lead after the first quarter. Green Bay is 26-37 (.413) since 2000 in road games when they do not score in the first quarter.
  • Green Bay was behind 17-3 at half. This was only their third win in 18 tries since 2000 when they were behind by 14 or more points on the road at halftime in a game.
  • Davante Adams caught a TD pass in the game. It was the 44th career TD for Adams. Of his 44 career TDs, 32 have come in Packers victories.
  • Blake Martinez had a sack and an interception in the game. He was the second player this season to have a sack and interception in the same game. Adrian Amos had a sack and pick in the December 8th win over Washington.
  • Allen Lazard had a TD reception in the contest, his third this season. Green Bay won each of the three games when Lazard had a TD reception.
  • Mason Crosby made three-of-four field goal attempts in the game. Green Bay is 35-8-1 (.807) in games when Crosby makes three or more field goals in a game. He tallied 11 points in the game; the Pack is 36-3-1 (.913) in games when Crosby has 11 or more points.
  • The Packers scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and have now won six straight when they tally 13 or more points in the fourth quarter. They are 47-17-1 (.731) since 2000 in games when they score 13 or more points in the fourth quarter. They are 24-5 (.828) since 2000 when they score 13 or more points in the fourth quarter in an away game.
  • Aaron Jones ran the ball 25 times for 100 yards. It was his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the year. The Packers won each of those five games. He was one of nine NFL runners to have five or more 100-yard rushing games in the league this season.
  • Aaron Rodgers attempted 55 passes in the game, tied for the third most he has attempted in a regular season game in his career. He completed 27 of 55 passes, a 49.1 completion percentage. It was only the eighth time in 181 regular season games that Rodgers completed less than 50% of his passes in a game.
  • The Pack racked up 432 total yards in the game. Since 2010, the team is 26-3-1 (.883) in games when they tally 430 or more total yards in a contest.

PACKERSTATS-Game #15-2019 season

Here are some of the numbers that helped define the Packers 23-10 road win over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, December 23.

  • The Packers have held their opponents under 16 points in each of their last four games. They have held the opposition under 20 points in eight of their 15 games so far this season, compiling an 8-0 record in those contests.
  • Green Bay has scored 20 or more points in 12 of their games this season. They are 11-1 in those games.
  • The Packers were 13-6-2 against the Vikings this decade.
  • Green Bay has now won three straight Monday night games in December. They are 7-4 all-time on Monday night in December.
  • This was the 15th game of the season. The Pack is 14-6 in the 15th game of the season since 2000.
  • That was only the third victory on the road versus an NFC North team in their last eight contests. They are 18-11 versus NFC North teams on the road since 2010.
  • They saw their top three offensive weapons, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones and Davante Adams each commit a turnover in the game. It was only the second time this season the Packers had three or more turnovers in a game. Ironically, they won both games. Since Rodgers took over as QB in 2008, the Packers are now 5-17 in games where they have three or more turnovers in a game.
  • The Vikings scored first in the game after an Aaron Jones fumble. Since 2000, the Packers are now 33-54 (.379) in road games when the opponents score first.
  • Mason Crosby was three-for-three in field goal attempts in the game. He has now made 46-of-51 field goal attempts against the Vikes, a .902 percentage rate. The 46 made against Minnesota is the most versus any team in his career. He has made three or more field goals in a game 44 times in his career with the Packers. The team is 36-7-1 (.830) in those games.
  • Aaron Rodgers had an interception in the game, only the third this season. It is the 64th game in his career that he had an interception. Green Bay is 29-35 (.453) in games where Rodgers has one or more interceptions. It was only the fifth game in his career where he had at least one interception and did not have a TD pass in the same game. This was the first of those five games where the Packers won the game.
  • Za-Darius Smith had 3.5 sacks in the game. That’s the most sacks by a Packers player in a game since Clay Matthews had 3.5 sacks in a September 13, 2012 game against the Bears. He became the eighth Packers player to have 3.5 or more sacks in a game since 1982. Green Bay is 7-1 since 1982 when they have a player accumulate 3.5 or more sacks in a game.
  • Green Bay was behind 10-9 at halftime. The team is now 21-51 (.292) since 2000 in road games when they are behind at halftime.
  • Kevin King made his fifth interception of the year, the sixth of his career. Green Bay has never lost when King makes an interception.
  • Davante Adams had 13 receptions for 116 yards. The 13 catches tied his career high. It was his ninth career game with 10 or more receptions. That is the most in Packers history (since 1950). Donald Driver and Sterling Sharpe are tied for second with seven games with 10 or more catches. It was the third game in his career that Adams had 12 or more catches in a game; that is also a Packers record. Jordy Nelson, Ken Payne and Vince Workman are the only other Packers to have a regular season game with 12 or more catches since 1950.
  • Aaron Jones scored a pair of rushing TDs in the game and now has 19 touchdowns for the season. That ties him with Jim Taylor (19 in 1962) for the most TDs in a season by a Packers player. Jones has one game to try to break the single-season record of TDs of 20 held by Ahman Green since 2003. There have been 24 NFL players who have scored 20 or more touchdowns in a single season. Jones would become the 25th if he scores next week against the Lions.
  • Green Bay had a 17-10 lead at the end of the third quarter. Green Bay has now won 10 straight road games when they have a lead of seven points or more. The Pack is 46-3 (.939) in road games since 2000 when they go into the fourth quarter with a lead of seven points or more.
  • Kenny Clark had a sack for the third straight game.
  • Aaron Jones became the 14th Packers player to rush for 150 or more yards in a game. He carried the ball 23 times for 154 yards. Green Bay is 7-1 in games where Jones gets 90 or more rushing yards; they are 7-2 in games where Jones carries the ball 15 or more times in a game.
  • The Packers defense allowed the Vikings to gain only 139 total yards. That is the lowest total by a Packers’ opponent since they held Tampa Bay to only 109 total yards in a game on December 21, 2014. The Pack has now won 11 straight games when they hold the opposition to under 150 total yards in a game.
  • The Vikings had only seven first downs in the contest. Green Bay is 25-5-1 (.823) in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) in games where they hold the opponents to less than 10 first downs.
  • Green Bay scored in every quarter in the game. The Packers are now 20-2-1 since the 2015 season when they score in every quarter of a game.
  • The Packers have won each of their four games this month. They have a chance to go 5-0 in December for the first time in team history if they defeat the Lions on December 29.
  • The Pack is 5-0 versus NFC North opponents this season. If they defeat the Lions next week, they will go 6-0 versus the NFC North for the first time since 2011.
  • Aaron Rodgers had a Passer Rating of 68.3. When Rodgers has a Passer Rating under 70, the Packers are a dismal 4-11.
  • Kirk Cousins had a Passer Rating of 58.8, the sixth lowest in his career in a game he started. His teams are 0-6 when he has a Passer Rating under 60. Even more remarkable is that when Cousins has a Passer Rating below 85 in his career, his teams are 1-26… yes, 1-26. Cousins had two games with a Passer Rating under 60 this season, both against the Packers.
  • The Packers had 383 total yards to only 139 for the Vikings. It was the 13th time in team history that they had over 350 total yards and held their opponents to under 150. They are 11-2 in those games.
  • Green Bay had 37:32 time of possession to the Vikings 22:28. Green Bay is 42-5 (.894) in non-overtime games when they have 37 or more minutes TOP in a contest.

PACKERSTATS-Game #14-2019 season

Here are some of the numbers that helped define the Packers 21-13 home win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, December 15.

  • The last five Packers-Bears games have been decided by eight points or less. In fact, 11 of the last 15 Packers-Bears games have been one-score games (decided by eight points or less).
  • The Packers will end this decade with a 17-4 record against the Bears. They have won four straight at Lambeau against the Bears.
  • Green Bay is 18-4 at Lambeau Field in December since 2010.
  • Temperature at game time was a balmy 11 degrees. Since 2000, the Pack is 10-6-1 in games that were below 20 degrees at game time.
  • Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams connected on a TD pass. The Packers have won four of their last five games in which Adams has a receiving TD.
  • The Packers scored in the first quarter and have now won 10 of their last 11 games at Lambeau Field when they score in the first quarter. The Packers are 22-7-1 (.750) since 2015 in games at Lambeau when they score in the first quarter.
  • Kenny Clark had a pair of sacks and three tackles for loss in the game. The two sacks tied a career high. He also tied a career high with six solo tackles. He has 3.5 sacks in his last two games.
  • Green Bay had three takeaways and did not have a turnover. The team is 45-6 (.882) since 1966 in games where they have zero turnovers and three or more takeaways in the same game.
  • Aaron Jones had a pair of rushing TDs in the game giving him 14 rushing TDs on the season. That is the fourth most in Packers history behind Jim Taylor’s 19 rushing TDs in 1962 and Ahman Green (2003) and Taylor (1961) who each had 15 rushing TDs in a season.
  • Of Aaron Jones 16 TDs this season (14 rushing and two receiving), 15 came in Packers victories. In the three Packers losses, Jones has only one TD.
  • Davante Adams had seven receptions for 103 yards. It was his 15th career game with 100 or more yards receiving. That places him 10th on the Packers all-time last in that category. James Lofton tops the list with 32 100-yard receiving games as a Packer.
  • The Packers led 21-3 going in to the fourth quarter. Green Bay is 88-1 at Lambeau in their history when they have a lead of 18 points or more going into the fourth quarter. Their only loss was in 1952.
  • Dean Lowry had his first career interception in the game.
  • The Pack ended the season 7-1 in home games. It was their best home record in a season since they went 8-0 at Lambeau in 2014. It was the eighth season since 2000 that they won seven or more games at home in a season.
  • The 11 wins this season is the most since the 2014 season when the Packers went 12-4. The team has a chance to end the year 13-3. Thirteen wins would be the most in a season since they went 15-1 in the 2011 campaign.
  • The win yesterday was the 100th regular season win for the Packers this decade. New England tops the list with 124 wins this decade followed by Pittsburgh with 102. Green Bay and Seattle each have 100 wins this decade to top the NFC teams. New Orleans, which plays Monday night, has 97 wins this decade. Which NFC team will win the most regular season games this decade?
  • Green Bay did not score in the fourth quarter while the Bears put 10 points on the board in that quarter. Green Bay is 11-8 since 2000 in games where they go scoreless in the fourth quarter and their opponents score 10 or more points in the same quarter.
  • The Packers had only 12 first downs in the game. Usually, that is not very good news. The Packers since 2000 were 2-7 prior to yesterday’s win in games where they have 12 or fewer first downs in a contest.
  • The Bears tallied 429 in total yardage in the game. Green Bay is now 41-36-2 since 2000 in games where they allow the opposition to gain 400 or more total yards in a game.
  • Green Bay has now 24 straight games when they hold their opponents under 14 points in a game. They have now won eight straight when they score 20 or more points in a game.
